Last year, Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has further increased the indicators of reliability of electricity supply, and continued smooth implementation of the strategic projects, that are necessary in preparing for the synchronization with the continental European networks.

EU endorsed a support for the second phase projects of the Baltic States' synchronisation

On Wednesday, January 26, the coordinating committee of the key EU fund for infrastructure Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) evaluated in its final selection process and approved the proposal submitted by the Baltic and Polish transmission system operators, granting EUR 170 million financial assistance to a range of projects as part of the synchronisation of the Baltic States with the Continental European Synchronous Area (CESA).

Litgrid's innovation test will help increase Lithuanian energy security

Litgrid, the Lithuanian power transmission system operator, has completed the testing of the first 1 MW battery system in the Baltic states connected to the power transmission grid. The data collected during the tests are important in preparing the Lithuanian electricity system for synchronisation with the Continental European Synchronous Area, ensuring the reliability of the system and the further development of rapidly growing renewable energy generation in the country.

Litgrid and Siemens Energy Will Implement the Second Largest Synchronisation Project in Lithuania

On Wednesday, 29th December, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has signed a contract with Siemens Energy for implementation of three synchronous condensers in Lithuania by the end of 2024. This equipment is necessary for synchronous operation of the Baltic States with Continental European Synchronous Area (CESA).

Lithuanians and Poles carried out an emergency support test on the Polish-Lithuanian electricity interconnection

Last Saturday, 4 December, Litgrid and PSE, the operators of the Lithuanian and Polish electricity transmission systems, carried out the emergency support test on the Polish-Lithuanian interconnection. The test was aimed at verification of Lithuanian system restoration and black-start capabilities using the interconnection together with newly installed autotransformers in Alytus substation.

The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has announced the procurement for works of design and construction of 330 kV Mūša substation. The new substation in Joniškis district will be constructed in order to strengthen the electric power transmission grid in Northern Lithuania and to ensure its reliable operation in preparing for the synchronization of the Baltic States with Continental European Synchronous Area (CESA).

Lithuania already has a synchronisation-ready interconnection with Poland: Litgrid has completed the LitPol Link expansion project

Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, has successfully completed the expansion of LitPol Link, the interconnection between Lithuania and Poland. This is one of the most crucial of the four synchronisation projects already implemented so far, as the upgraded LitPol Link station near Alytus is now capable of operating in the synchronous mode with the Continental European Synchronous Area.

Litgrid three-quarter results for 2021: system reliability indicators improved, increased revenue as the volume of power transferred increased

The demand for electricity transmission services in Lithuania increased in the first nine months of 2021, with an 8.5% increase in the volume of electricity transmitted compared to the same period last year. In the first nine months of this year, the revenues of Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, amounted to EUR 172.4 million, 15.6% higher than in the same period last year. System reliability indicators continued to improve.
