To increase competition among contractors Litgrid joins international public procurement platform

According to Arūnas Jurgelaitis, Litgrid Head of Procurement, organisations use DevelopmentAid to announce the procurements, future plans while the potential contractors can look for the new opportunities. The system also has the functionality to evaluate the contractors, making it easier to select the reliable partners.
"We are constantly trying to reach out and invite as many energy sector contractors as possible in our projects. This ensures stable project implementation and maximum value for we can get. The search for alternative suppliers is an important part of our understanding of responsible business, and we are looking for the new ways to increase competition among our contractors," Jurgelaitis says.
 
Litgrid predicts that over the next decade the country's electricity consumption will be 46% higher than the last year. As demand for electricity grows, the company plans to launch dozens of projects worth more than €2 billion ensure the reliability and security of the transmission grid. 
The largest amount, €898 million, will be spent on the network construction, €794 million on strategic national projects. Around €200 million will be dedicated to the new construction, €76 million to the major repairs and around €24 million to the IT and innovation projects.
