Isolated operation test of the power system of the Republic of Lithuania
Status: The isolated operation test was successfully completed on 22 April 2023.
Objective of the project
In preparation for synchronisation with Continental European grid, it is necessary to test the readiness of the Lithuanian energy system to operate independently.
Significance of the project
During the test, the entire Lithuanian electricity system was temporarily disconnected from the IPS/UPS synchronous zone for the first time and operated in isolated mode. Prior to the test, we checked the readiness of priority customers to work during the test, and coordinated access to the Lithuanian electricity system with transmission system operators of other countries. We also trained dispatchers and prepared IT systems for dispatch management in advance of the test.
