Synchronisation projects
Synchronisation of the Baltic states' electricity grid with the Continental European Network requires not only the construction of a new connection with Poland, but also the strengthening of internal electricity transmission networks, the preparation of systems for disconnection from IPS/UPS and independent frequency management.
The Government of Lithuania approved a list of synchronization projects. Currently, 6 of these projects (Expansion of LitPol Link in Alytus, Expansion of Bitėnai transformer substation, Construction of Pagėgiai-Bitėnai 110 kV overhead line and Reconstruction of Lithuanian E-Vilnius 330 kV overhead line, Grid optimisation in North-Eastern Lithuania, Test of emergency assistance to the Lithuanian electricity system from the Polish electricity system via a synchronous interconnector) have already been implemented.
The Government of Lithuania approved a list of synchronisation projects:
1. Expansion of LitPol Link in Alytus (done)
11. Grid optimisation in North-Eastern Lithuania (done)
20. Installation of an electricity energy storage system (implemented by the designated storage system operator UAB “Energy cells”)
Additional project: development of a new energy balance and additional services management system (project implemented by Litgrid and EPSO-G, which is not included in the list of projects of the synchronisation programme approved by the Government).
