In December, Nord Pool Spot intraday electricity market will be launched in Lithuania

Nordic and Baltic energy exchange Nord Pool Spot announced intraday electricity market Elbas to be placed into operation from the 10th of December 2013 in Lithuanian and Latvian bidding areas.

Currently, Nord Pool Spot trades in electricity in the Lithuanian bidding area by day-ahead principle for every hour of the next day. Intraday trade will offer more flexibility for Elbas market participants in adjusting exchange trade results - offering a possibility for market participants to trade in electricity not one day in advance, but rather one hour before its supply.

Elbas intraday market was founded in 1999, and it has been undergoing continuous development for 14 years of its operation in order to satisfy the needs of electricity markets in the whole Europe.
