Line maintenance works
Litgrid’s specialists working in the regional units carry out annual inspections of the high-voltage transmission grid. Any defects that prevent or may prevent normal functioning of the overhead lines are recorded. On completion of the annual inspection, a contractor selected through a public tendering procedure carries out line repair works. Such works may include replacement of the towers, insulators, lightning-protection wires and other components of the line. Furthermore, cleaning works are performed: bushes under the lines that are too high as well as individual trees are cut.
Should it be determined during an inspection that tree cutting will be necessary; the contractor must obtain a written permission for such works from the land lot owner.
