The Litgrid Group’s revenue in 2012 was 508.4 million LTL, while profit before taxes was 31 million LTL. The electricity transmission system operator’s primary operations key performance indicator—electricity transmission reliability—compares favourably to European electricity transmission companies’ best results.

Government Gives Go-Ahead for NordBalt Construction in Coastal Area

The strategic electric energy project – NordBalt electricity interconnection between Lithuania and Sweden – moves ahead without obstacles. The building of NordBalt cable in the coastline and an exclusive economic zone of the country was approved at the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. This decision is necessary for obtaining a permit for the construction of the electricity interconnection.

Country's Economic Growth Reflected by Increased Power Consumption in 2012

Demand and production of electricity increased in Lithuania last year, shows an analysis of the 2012 power system balance data conducted by electricity transmission system operator Litgrid. Gross national electricity consumption in 2012 was 10.6 terawatt-hours (TWh*), i.e. 2% more than in 2011.

Litgrid and ABB signed an agreement for design and construction of LitPol Link HVDC converter station

Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, and ABB, the global technology group, have signed an agreement for design and construction of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) back-to-back converter station with a 400 kV switchyard in Alytus.

Winner Announced in Tender to Build Alytus HVDC Back-to-Back Converter Station as a Part of LitPol Link Interconnection

Successful bidders have been selected after a tendering process to carry out the design and construction works of a HVDC Back-to-Back converter station in Alytus with a 400 kV switchyard. A bid submitted by the global technology group ABB has been announced the winner of the tender based on the criteria of cost efficiency.

Lithuania seeing a decrease in electricity imported from Russia, increase from Estonia

10.6 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity were consumed in Lithuania in 2012, in comparison to 10.4 TWh in 2011. 6.6 TWh of electricity were imported into Lithuania in 2012, i.e. 63% of the country's total consumption. In 2011, 6.74 TWh of electricity were imported, accounting for 65% of total consumption.

Artūras Vilimas Appointed President of the Management Board and CEO of LitPol Link

LitPol Link Supervisory Board has appointed Artūras Vilimas President of the Management Board and CEO of LitPol Link.  Mr Vilimas will take this position as of February 1st.  LitPol Link, the joint Lithuanian-Polish company, was set up in 2008 to coordinate the preparatory work of the power interconnection between Lithuania and Poland. Until December 2012 the company was headed by the incumbent minister of energy of the Republic of Lithuania, Jaroslav Neverovič.

Vilnius Power Substation Renovated

The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has completed the reconstruction of the Viršuliškės substation in Vilnius. The fully renovated station has been connected to Vilnius electricity grid. It will ensure a reliable supply of electricity to the residents of Viršuliškės and Karoliniškės neighbourhoods and businesses: Vilnius University Emergency Hospital, the Lithuanian Radio and TV Centre, the trolleybus fleet UAB Vilniaus Troleibusai and the water supplier AB Vilniaus Vandenys.
