Litgrid delivers support to Ukraine for the restoration of its power transmission network

Baltic electricity transmission operators announce plan to phase out balancing resources
The Baltic electricity transmission system operators – Litgrid in Lithuania, Elering in Estonia, and Augstsprieguma tīkls (AST) in Latvia – have announced a plan to discontinue the provision of demand reduction resources. In order to ensure the reliability of electricity system in the event of a lack of supply in the balancing market, Baltic operators were granted the right to consider their own resources or those of related service providers.

Litgrid delivers a fourth autotransformer to Ukraine – enough capacity to power a quarter of a million people
Lithuania’s electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has delivered a fourth high-voltage autotransformer to Ukraine. The equipment will help restore and strengthen the country’s war-damaged electricity transmission network. With a capacity of 200 MW, the autotransformer is sufficient to supply electricity to more than 250,000 people.

The first commercial battery storage system in Lithuania has joined the electricity balancing market
A new participant has joined the electricity balancing market organized by Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, and submitted its first bids – a 1 MW power and 2 MWh capacity energy storage battery system, built by Green Genius in the Alytus district. This is the first commercial storage facility in the country to contribute to ensuring the balance between electricity consumption and production in the Lithuanian electricity system.

Litgrid to increase electricity transmission capacity with Poland, invites market participants for consultation
Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has prepared a concept for increasing transmission capacity between Lithuania and Poland, which is presented to the market participants. It is expected that the implementation of the measures outlined in the concept will increase cross-border electricity transfer capacity. The growth of electricity trade will create better conditions for the development of renewable energy sources in Lithuania.

Litgrid dismantled all cables connecting the Lithuanian and Kaliningrad electricity systems
Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, has completely dismantled the sections of cross-border power lines connecting Lithuania with the Kaliningrad region. Once the entire infrastructure has been dismantled, the owners of the vacated land will be able to use their plots without any restrictions.

Litgrid first half results: strategic energy independence projects continue to be successfully implemented
In the second quarter of this year, Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, continued to provide seamless operation of the electricity system in the Continental Europe Synchronous Area, which Lithuania joined in February together with the other Baltic countries. Strategic projects ensuring Lithuania's energy independence were also completed in April–June. Litgrid continued to ensure the reliability of electricity supply. Due to temporary factors affecting the electricity balancing market, the company incurred a loss in the first half of the year, but the adjusted financial results were stable compared to the same period last year.
