For the first time electricity flowed through the wires of Lithuanian-Polish interconnection LitPol Link. These first tests of power line stretching from Elk to Alytus aimed to check whether the line is ready for power transmission.

Systems tests of NordBalt not to affect the market participants
In late November 24 thousands Lithuanian consumers of electricity will receive electricity from Sweden for the first time. During a half an hour special test when the Lithuanian electricity system operator Litgrid is planning to verify the NordBalt black-start feature, the residents in Klaipėda and Šilutė districts will be provided with electricity from a single source – the Lithuanian and Swedish interconnector NordBalt.

70th Anniversary of the Lithuanian power system
Exactly 70 years ago in October, 1945, the Lithuanian power system was put into operation. The operation of generators at the Kaunas and Vilnius power plants was synchronized after a power line connecting the power plants had been installed, and the balance between power generation and consumption was maintained by the central system control centre.

Litgrid CEO: Better use of the power system – possibilities in our hands

On 11 September Baltic TSOs submitted reviewed draft rules to Baltic countries’ National Regulatory Authorities and asked for their review and approval.

NordBalt cable lying safe on the bottom of the Baltic Sea
All cable-related works on the NordBalt power interconnection have been completed in the Baltic Sea. The 400 km long submarine cable connecting Lithuania and Sweden has been protected from vessel anchors and fishing equipment along its most vulnerable sections.
