Baltic Rules for the calculation and allocation of cross-border capacities approved by all Baltic Regulators and become effective from 1 January 2016
All National Regulatory Authorities of Baltic countries have assessed and approved the rules for the calculation and allocation of cross-border capacities within Baltic countries and with the third countries.

New interconnections open electricity highways to Europe for the Baltic countries
Today in Vilnius, on December 14th, a new energy victory was symbolically commemorated for two new international electricity interconnections, the LitPol Link and NordBalt, bringing Lithuania and the Baltic countries back on the map of Europe’s electricity grid.

On 14 December the new era with Lithuania on the European energy map will start when the heads of Lithuania and neighbouring countries symbolically activate the interconnections LitPol Link and NordBalt.

The system tests of the interconnections NordBalt and LitPol Link are going ahead full speed. Because of a complicated high voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, time consuming tests need to be repeated several times.

LitPol Link starts trial operations
The trial operations of Lithuanian-Polish power interconnection LitPol Link have started today with power transmission from Poland to Lithuania. The trial operations mode is the last phase before starting regular operations of the link.

First electricity from Poland traded on the market
The supply increased in the Lithuanian bidding area of the Nord Pool Spot. On 1st December Lithuania sold electricity transmitted directly from Poland on the market for the first time. Electricity was supplied through LitPol Link at 150 MW capacity during the tests of interconnection.

Successful start of LitPol Link tests
Today for the first time in history 50 megawatts of electricity were transmitted from Lithuania to Poland through LitPol Link. This test, as well as other scheduled tests of the new interconnection aim to check it’s preparedness for electricity transmission in both directions between Poland and Lithuania.

LitPol Link power line energized for the first time
For the first time electricity flowed through the wires of Lithuanian-Polish interconnection LitPol Link. These first tests of power line stretching from Elk to Alytus aimed to check whether the line is ready for power transmission.

Systems tests of NordBalt not to affect the market participants
In late November 24 thousands Lithuanian consumers of electricity will receive electricity from Sweden for the first time. During a half an hour special test when the Lithuanian electricity system operator Litgrid is planning to verify the NordBalt black-start feature, the residents in Klaipėda and Šilutė districts will be provided with electricity from a single source – the Lithuanian and Swedish interconnector NordBalt.
