Litgrid develops a study on power flow restriction from Ostrovets power plant
The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid is examining technical measures to restrict the flow of electricity generated at the Ostrovets nuclear power plant to Lithuania. The advantages and disadvantages of these measures will be assessed in a study which is developed in cooperation with the scientists of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).

Litgrid renewed typical contractor agreements
The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has renewed the terms of the typical contractor agreement on design and construction works. The renewed terms will be applied to newly signed agreements between Litgrid and contractors.

NordBalt is ready to serve as the pillar of the power system
The NordBalt power interconnection with Sweden will be ready to operate at any time and will support the Lithuanian power system in emergency situations. This was demonstrated by the successful electricity restoration test performed on the night from March 6 to March 7. In the Klaipėda district, 24,000 consumers were provided with electricity from NordBalt only.

At 10.86 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) (or 10.86 terawatt hours, TWh), or 1.4 % more than in 2014, electricity consumption in 2015 was at its highest since 2009.

Synchronisation of Baltic countries - an important step towards Energy Union
New interconnections NordBalt and LitPol Link bring Europe closer to the vision of Energy Union, yet another indispensable step will be the synchronisation of Baltic power systems with Continental Europe networks. Such position was shared by the chairman of Litgrid Supervisory Board Aleksandras Spruogis in the meeting with the Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič.

LitPol Link starts regular operations
Lithuanian-Polish interconnection LitPol Link starts regular operations today. After successfully completing last tests, all the infrastructure of the power link was handed over from contractors to Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid.
