Litgrid encourages company managers to put focus on occupational safety

Electricity transmission system operator Litgrid notes that occupational safety is not a business priority at Lithuanian companies. Litgrid, which organises contractor inspections on a regular basis, points out that the situation is not in essence changing in implementing work safety measures: during the 84 contractor workplace inspections that were carried out over the course of nine months this year, 51 violations were found that were directly related to occupational safety. However, changes in this area depend on the attitude of the company’s manager.

The summary of the public consultation on the Baltic balancing market elements published

The Baltic transmission system operators Augstsprieguma tīkls, Elering and Litgrid would like to thank all the stakeholders who responded on invitation to participate in the public consultation about Baltic CoBA development elements. The public consultation lasted from June 27th to August 15th 2016, 15 response letters were received.

Power market design requires regional agreement

In order for Baltic countries to further develop a single electricity market, they must first and foremost agree on its development directions on the political level. It is particularly important when addressing the issues of trade in electricity with third countries. This was pointed out by Aistė Krasauskienė, Head of Market Development at Litgrid, in a round-table discussion organised by the World Energy Council and the National Lithuanian Electricity Association.

Lithuania’s experience in energy projects will benefit Energy Union vision

Experience gained by Lithuanian electricity specialists in the fields of system control, connection of electricity markets and infrastructure will be of use while seeking the vision of European energy integration. The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid presented these opportunities to Dominique Ristori, Director General for Energy of the European Commission (EC), who visited the Lithuanian energy company.

First scheduled maintenance of LitPol Link finalised

The maintenance works of the LitPol Link interconnection were accomplished on Saturday afternoon. It was the first annual disconnection of the power link with Poland for the maintenance. After the works were performed, the interconnection was again put into operation on Sunday.

Preparations for the Second Link with Poland Have Started

The second power link with Poland that will complement the LitPol Link between Alytus and Ełk already in operation is one of the most important and complicated works in the preparations for the operation of the Baltic States’ power systems within synchronous grid of Continental Europe. Both Lithuania and Poland are considering the options of the new line’s route. On the Lithuanian part, the options will be analysed by Sweco Lietuva, an engineering consultancy to whom the contract has been awarded in a tendering procedure organised by the Lithuanian transmission system operator Litgrid.

LitPol Link Route to Be Monitored by Ornithological Society and Lithuanian Fund for Nature

Specialists from the Lithuanian Ornithological Society and the Lithuanian Fund for Nature are starting work on the route of LitPol Link, the Lithuanian-Polish power link. Winners of a public procurement procedure, these two organisations will monitor the impact of the power link on the environment in the course of three years.
