Grid Reliability Underpinning Growth in Litgrid Group‘s Income

Income of Litgrid Group for the nine months of 2016 totalled EUR 123.1 million, a 69% increase compared with the same period of previous year. The Group’s net profit increased 3.5 times, totalling EUR 12.4 million. Such financial results were largely determined by increase in transmission revenue, connection of new producers and other operating income as well as congestion revenues.

Cooperation between Litgrid and NATO Centre to ensure energy security

The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid and NATO Energy Security Centre for Excellence have signed a cooperation agreement. The two parties have undertaken to exchange experience in ensuring and strengthening Lithuania’s energy security.

New power line to enhance the power transmission grid

The construction of a new power transmission line stretching from Alytus to Kruonis Pumped Storage Power Plant will start in mid-November. The first permits for the line’s construction were issued this week. This will be the second 330 kV new construction power line built in Lithuania since the restoration of the country’s independence. The first one was built between Klaipėda and Telšiai in 2014.

Litgrid encourages company managers to put focus on occupational safety

Electricity transmission system operator Litgrid notes that occupational safety is not a business priority at Lithuanian companies. Litgrid, which organises contractor inspections on a regular basis, points out that the situation is not in essence changing in implementing work safety measures: during the 84 contractor workplace inspections that were carried out over the course of nine months this year, 51 violations were found that were directly related to occupational safety. However, changes in this area depend on the attitude of the company’s manager.

The summary of the public consultation on the Baltic balancing market elements published

The Baltic transmission system operators Augstsprieguma tīkls, Elering and Litgrid would like to thank all the stakeholders who responded on invitation to participate in the public consultation about Baltic CoBA development elements. The public consultation lasted from June 27th to August 15th 2016, 15 response letters were received.

Power market design requires regional agreement

In order for Baltic countries to further develop a single electricity market, they must first and foremost agree on its development directions on the political level. It is particularly important when addressing the issues of trade in electricity with third countries. This was pointed out by Aistė Krasauskienė, Head of Market Development at Litgrid, in a round-table discussion organised by the World Energy Council and the National Lithuanian Electricity Association.
