    Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, has approved a concept for increasing interconnection capacity between Lithuania and Poland and is beginning to implement it. It is expected that the implementation of the measures outlined in the concept will increase electricity trading opportunities. Higher electricity trading capacities will create better conditions for the development of renewable energy sources in Lithuania.

    The electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) of Continental Europe have confirmed the successful synchronisation of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania with the Continental Europe Synchronous Area. This milestone means Elering, Augstsprieguma tīkls (AST), and Litgrid, the TSOs of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, now meet all key technical requirements for permanent interconnection with Continental Europe’s power system via Poland.

    Electricity market exchange EPEX SPOT has successfully started operation in the intraday market in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The launch was enabled by the Baltic electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) adopting a so-called Multi-NEMO arrangement.
