System balancing
The TSO is responsible for securing the national power generation and consumption balance.
In performing the national balancing function, the TSO:
- maintains balance of the power system based on the market participants‘ power consumption, generation and trading schedules;
- coordinates power plants‘ actions in case of emergencies and failures;
- trades in balancing and regulation power with the suppliers of balancing and regulation power;
- purchases power necessary to compensate for the electricity losses in the transmission grid;
- provides the public interest services (PIS) in the electricity sector.
