On Thursday, 9th May, the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania granted the status of a project of special national importance to Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, for its planned electricity transmission network development projects in the Northwest of Lithuania. The construction of the new facilities will increase energy security, ensure the reliable transmission of electricity, stable operation of the system, and create conditions for the development of renewable energy sources.

New Litgrid Board elected, with two independent members from Dutch, German and Belgian TSOs
On 30 April, at the shareholders' meeting of the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid, a new Board was elected for a four-year term of office. The three members of the previous Board and two new independent members from the management teams of the Dutch, German and Belgian electricity transmission system operators were elected.

EPSO-G, the parent company of the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid, has nominated the members of the Board, which will be elected at the shareholders' meeting. In the newly formed board three members from the previous board and two new independent members from the management teams of electricity transmission system operators in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium are proposed.

Baltic TSO’s updated Baltic Balancing Roadmap
As of January 2018, Litgrid alongside the other Baltic transmission system operators (TSOs) operate in a common model for balancing of power systems of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. To ensure this, the common Baltic coordinated balancing area (Baltic CoBA) was introduced and with it a common Baltic balancing market for exchange of balancing energy in a form of frequency restoration reserves with manual activation (mFRR) was established.

Litgrid's 2023 results: objectives reached, reliability of electricity transmission ensured, loss turned into profit
In 2023, Litgrid, the Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, has achieved its objectives of preparing for synchronisation with the continental European grid, connecting renewable generation capacity to the transmission grid and ensuring reliable electricity transmission. While the company's revenues declined, the loss of a year ago was replaced by a profit.

Baltic Sea region TSOs to assist Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia synchronise with continental European network
8 December 2023 a meeting of the Baltic Sea region's electricity transmission operators in Stockholm consolidated the region's support and assistance to the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian operators in the process of synchronisation with the continental European grid and discussed the region's most important energy projects.

Baltic and Polish electricity transmission operators complete dynamic stability study of accelerated synchronisation
The Polish Institute of Power Engineering Gdansk office, together with the Baltic and Polish electricity transmission operators Litgrid, AST, Elering and PSE, has completed a study to assess the technical feasibility of earlier synchronisation with the continental European grid. The results of the study show that synchronisation in February 2025 is technically possible and secure.

Litgrid results for 9 months: completed strategic projects, system security ensuring devices arrived in Lithuania
Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid in the third quarter of 2023 completed two strategic electricity transmission line reconstruction projects that increased the reliability of the grid, and delivered synchronous condensers, which are necessary for synchronisation with Continental Europe, to Telšiai and Alytus substations. In the first 9 months of this year, network reliability indicators were better than last year. The company's revenue was down compared to the same period last year, while profits were higher.
