The key projects in Ten-Year Network Development Plan focus on the integration into Europe

In the updated Ten-Year Network Development Plan, electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has estimated that in 2017–2026, EUR 400 million – or two thirds of all planned network investments – will be required for synchronisation with the grid of Continental Europe. Total investment into the transmission network will amount to approximately EUR 643 million.

Energy Minister Vaičiūnas: from 2025 the Baltic region will need new reliable power plants

The long-term power system adequacy analysis of the Baltic countries, which has been carried out for the first time by the electricity transmission system operators of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, has shown that the existing double-circuit Lithuanian-Polish power interconnection is sufficient for the synchronisation of Baltic power systems.

An agreement reached to replace the NordBalt interconnection onshore joints

After constructive negotiations between Lithuanian and Swedish power cable experts the agreement on the replacement of NordBalt underground cable joints was signed on 27 April 2017. The work of joint replacement is planned for 2018, after the newly-designed joints undergo tests.
